Hello!  A Bit About Me:

Hi! My name is Amy Olson. I am currently employed at Maine Education Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing/Governor Baxter School for the Deaf (MECDHH/GBSD). When I first started working at MECDHH/GBSD, I was a preschool education technician for the remainder of the 22-23 school year in March 2022. During the summer of 2022, I was promoted to an American Sign Language (ASL) Specialist/ Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) position and my focus is on preschool and elementary students. I am currently in my second year as an ASL Specialist and learning and enjoying every second of it.

I consider myself as a cutting-edge and passionate ASL specialist/TOD teacher who aims to thrive the highest academic achievement in bilingual literacy and signacy in deaf students by sharing my inspiring energy, passion, and rich knowledge in innovation, creativity, commitment to social justice and anti-racism, and growing transformative leadership attitude with the whole school community.

I am now pursuing an M.S. in Deaf Education from McDaniel College. I will be obtaining my master’s in Deaf Education in May 2024. Hopefully, after I receive my M.S. in Deaf Education, I plan on continuing my education to earn a Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership. I hope to receive an EdD degree before 2030. I am passionate about Deaf Education and want to continue to improve and strengthen Deaf Education for all future generations of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
